Happy Friday, dear readers!
You’ve made it through another week in this upside-down world—and for that, I salute you. Thank you for choosing to spend even a small piece of your week seeing the world through my words. If no one has told you today: You are appreciated. You are valued. You are important.
A Pause for Reflection
Today’s post will be a slight departure from my usual work—less about exhorting the government to listen, and more about calling us, this growing community, to clarity and focus. With so many new readers joining us, it feels like the right time to recenter on who we are, what we stand for, and what you can expect from me going forward.
Who Is Lady LiberTea?
My name is Lady LiberTea, Editor-in-Chief of this publication. I am descended from witches and kings, from warriors who fought for their nations, and from immigrants who crossed oceans to escape persecution and certain death. I have known both comfort and hardship—nights with no idea where the next meal would come from, and mornings waking under a safe roof to a job I love.
I’ve been fortunate to find the kind of love that stirs poetry—deep, consuming, and true. I’ve also paid a heavy price for it. And yet, I’d choose it again.
More than anything, I am an observer. Where others see a flood of chaotic data, my neurodivergent brain weaves threads, making sense of patterns others miss. I take in terabytes and return a tapestry. This is my gift.
The Veil and the Voice
You might be wondering: Who is this person, really? What’s their name, gender, backstory? Fair questions.
But I ask you to let those questions remain unanswered.
While I have chosen to take this stand—regardless of what the dark may hold—my loved ones have not. I will not risk their safety for my voice. The world has too many petty tyrants and vindictive sycophants for me to offer them up like a diet soda to Cheetolini.
Second, and more importantly, I want the strength of my work to speak for itself. No labels. No categories. Just words—honest, urgent, unfiltered. With words I seek to build communities, to weave spells of courage and of strength, to educate, to empower, to resist.
What to Expect from This Space
Let’s get one thing clear: my mind moves fast. Thoughts arrive at a pace my fingers struggle to match. Years of study and a lifelong hunger for knowledge have trained me to connect seemingly unrelated topics with the finest filament of meaning. Sometimes the result is poetry. Sometimes a manifesto. Always, it is sincere.
What you can count on is this:
This space exists to empower, inform, and inspire. We will combat disinformation. We will give you tools for resistance—no matter where you are or how much time you have. This is a refuge and a rallying cry, a listening ear and a line in the sand.
Here, we amplify the voices of the marginalized, the oppressed, the fearful. And when called upon, we stand with them. We seek to build a place, both in this digital space and in the communities around us where we can have honest open dialog about the state of things as they are, and explore ways to bring into being our dreams for America.
What You Won’t Find Here
You will not find breaking news coverage of every outrageous move by the Odious Orange and his misbegotten regime.
Why? Because I have a life—a partner I love, a home to tend, a job I’m passionate about, and multiple furry (and scaly!) companions who depend on me. Some have even referred to me as a caretaker of souls, a title I truly cherish.
I will not waste precious time giving bad-faith policies the dignity of my pen. Others—like the phenomenal
—do daily updates better than I ever could.Let them track the dumpster fire. We will build firebreaks. It takes all kinds of work and help to combat this farcical administration and we intend to put our efforts where it will do the most good.
What We Will Cover
We will go deep, not wide. We’ll shine a focused light on issues that matter most to us:
Income inequality
Attacks on public education and science
Attacks on the Rule of Law and Democracy itself
As someone deeply embedded in the LGBTQ+ community, I’ll be lifting up heroes and voices from within as we approach Pride. We’ll remember the battles fought and won—and those still raging. Knowledge is power, and legacy matters.
A Word on Frequency
What started as a humble weekly newsletter has grown into something far richer. I’ve rediscovered the joy of building parapets out of paragraphs.
If you subscribe (and I hope you do!), you’ll now receive long-form essays every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. There is no paywall—ever. But subscribing ensures you never miss a post.
This Is Your Space, Too
Consider this your safe haven, your rally point, your online 24 hr library of liberty.
Join the conversation in our community thread. Next week, I’ll be posting questions tied to each article. If you have ideas or links to share, please do. I’m a lifelong lover of books and stories, and I welcome your contributions.
Substack, to me, is a 24-hour library where we all bring our knowledge, our voices, and our hopes. It is my hope for this publication we are able to build something that is lasting, together, and can provide a lifeline to all those who might need it in the dark days ahead.
Why I Write
I come from a long line of freedom fighters—across generations, across continents. The call to stand, to protect, to speak out echoes in my blood. I may not have a fortune or a platform or a title. I am no soldier, no healer.
But I have words. Words that can cut, comfort, provoke, and inspire. Throughout history, words have been among the most powerful tools of transformation—more enduring than weapons, more contagious than fire. They have stirred revolutions, shattered empires, and rebuilt the broken. In the face of oppression, it has often been the whispered word, the smuggled pamphlet, the defiant poem, or the unflinching headline that sparked movements and inspired courage where silence once reigned. From the stirring speeches of abolitionists to the chants of protestors holding signs declaring “Equality” and “Protect Trans Rights,” language has always been both a shield and a sword. Just as arguably one of the greatest British fascism defenders Winston Churchill marshaled the english language and sent it into battle, I propose to do the same.
With every piece I write, I want you to remember:
You matter.
The danger is real.
Your actions make a difference.
I hope this weekend brings you peace, reflection, and maybe even a little good trouble. Let’s keep fighting—together.
Until Our Next Bold Move,
Lady LiberTea
Editor-in-Chief, Lady LiberTea
Thank you for this. The best part of my three plus weeks here has been the amazing array of allies I have found in so short a time! I am grateful for every one.
